The decorating brief

Every surface deserves
a considered approach.

From the first assessment to the final finish, preparation and a clear specification give the work its foundation.

How we work

The finish begins
with the preparation.

Older paint, small repairs, existing joinery and the light in a room all affect the result. The brief should make those decisions visible.

Our approach to your project
  1. 01

    Understand the surfaces

Assess condition, existing finishes and details to retain.

  2. 02

    Define the scope

Agree preparation, materials, protection and exclusions.

  3. 03

    Plan the work

Discuss access, room sequence and drying time.

  4. 04

    Review the finish

Check the agreed work and retain the colour and care information.

Offices & shared buildings

Decoration planned
around the building.

A reception, meeting suite or shared staircase needs an access plan as well as a colour scheme. Set out working hours, protection and the required handover condition at the start.

Practical questions

What should I send with an enquiry?

Send the address or postcode, the rooms or surfaces involved, photographs of their condition and any access restrictions. Include your preferred timing so the scope and availability can be discussed.

How is the decorating price agreed?

The written quote should identify preparation, materials, protection, access assumptions and exclusions. Repairs or additional work should be described separately so you can compare the scope as well as the total.

What about a listed building or conservation area?

Check the status of the actual property and seek relevant advice before changing historic finishes. Any permissions, specialist assessment or agreed sample areas need to be resolved before work starts.

Can rooms stay in use during decoration?

This depends on the room, materials and access. Discuss a sequence that accounts for protection, ventilation, drying and clearing before agreeing when each area can return to use.

Your next step

Tell us about
your property.

Share the rooms or surfaces, their condition and the timing you have in mind. We can discuss the scope from there.
